    Qualities: Heavy, rough, stable, slow, solid

    Earth provides structure, protection, resistance and density. In Ayurveda, it is associated with the sense of smell.

    In our Body this element is represented by the membrane of our cells, our bony and muscular structure. Besides it shapes our organs (heart, liver, pancreas, brain...) and our body (limbs, fingers, toes, neck, head...).

    Qualities: Moist, cool, unctuous, soft

    The functions of Water are: nourishment, lubrification, fluidity and cohesion. It facilitates the perception of taste by means of saliva.

    Water is the more obvious element in our physical body. Indeed it constitutes 70% of the latter. It manifests itself in all our body fluids: blood, lymph, gastric secretions, hormonal secretions, sweat, urine, synovial fluid in the joints...In fact water is present within every cells of our body as well as in their interstitial environment.

  • The Five Elements: Fire

    FIRE

    -Qualities: Hot, sharp, dry, subtle, rough

    Fire is responsible for the radiation of light, the emission of heat and any process of transformation. It also stimulates our mental capacities.

    In our body, this element maintains our body temperature at 37°C. It allows us to see: due to the transformation of light rays into biochemical information processed by our brain in order to obtain clear images.

    It also governs our hormonal and enzymatic activities which include, among others, the transformation of food eaten into absorbable nutrients and waste products eliminated by our system.

    Our intelligence and ambition comes from the fire element too.
